Tallaght Community Health Fair in Fettercairn

Fettercairn Community & Youth Centre hosted a vibrant Tallaght community health fair. The event was very well attended and stands hosted by local organisations and agencies included information on services available in the community and various health matters, as well as health checks.

Growing Community Roots showcased their garden, which is on the grounds of the centre, and invited local people to sample the produce and join their gardening group. A brilliant cookery demonstration was also given by local community chef, Julie Balin, on making homemade tomato & basil soup, chicken and broccoli bake and vegetable frittata – very delicious! Local people were delighted to sample the delicious healthy food and can learn how to cook it at Julie’s cookery classes.

Growing Community Roots is part of our Community Food Initiative Programme 2013-15. In Healthy Food for All we are proud to work with projects like this to gather the evidence and learning to advocate for the continued support of Community Food Initiatives at national level.
