St. Patrick’s SNS in Blanchardstown – Food Rescue Event

St. Patrick’s Senior National School in Corduff held an excellent Food Rescue event. Four classes took part over a two-week period in food waste prevention activities. By examining their own food habits and identifying some waste reduction measures, they managed to decrease their food waste by 40% and their composting and recycling doubled in two weeks! The children were very excited to present their findings to a packed room of their peers, teachers, parents and community guests, including local Councillors. We were all then treated to a delicious lunch made from ‘rescued’ food from local supermarkets.


This project is part of our Community Food Initiative Programme 2013-15. In Healthy Food for All we are proud to work with projects like this to gather the evidence and learning to advocate for the continued support of Community Food Initiatives at national level.
