Interreg VA Programme

  • The INTERREG Programme 2014-2020 is designed to promote greater levels of cross-border co-operation across the EU. This new Programme has 4 Focus Areas including health.  This focus area will provide funding to projects that seek to improve the health and well-being of people living in the region by enabling them to access health and social care services in the most appropriate setting to their needs.  A total of €53 million is available in this category.  The deadline for applications is 3pm on Monday 16th November.

The St Andrews Prize for the Environment

  • The St Andrews Prize recognises significant contributions to environmental conservation and since its launch in 1998 has attracted entries from dozens of countries each year.  Grants are available in ranges of up to €1,000; €5,000 and €60,000.  Examples of topics funded include:

    • Sustainable development
    • Urban regeneration
    • Waste and recycling
    • Sanitation and water issues
    • Environmental health
    • Renewable energy
    • Wildlife conservation
    • Reducing human-animal conflict
    • Food supply
    • Land use and maintenance

Rural Micro Capital Grant Programme 2015

  • The Rural Micro Capital Grant Programme 2015 has been developed to provide rural, community-led, voluntary organisations with the opportunity to avail of financial assistance towards the purchase of equipment or completion of minor capital works (e.g. to improve community premises) that can contribute to alleviating poverty and / or social isolation in Northern Ireland.

    Grant support of between £200 (minimum) and £1,500 (maximum) is available to eligible rural groups. Projects must clearly address an issue of rural poverty and / or social isolation and applicants must provide a minimum of 15% match funding.

    Phase 2 of the Programme is now open for applications until 12 noon on Friday 30 October 2015.

DM Thomas Foundation for Young People

  • DMTFYP Grants and Local Funds provide funding for organisations helping disadvantaged young people in the UK and Ireland.

    Applications working in the areas of education or health with one of our four chosen focus groups are selected or considered:

    Children and young people with disabilities
    Children and young people who are sick in hospital
    Children and young people who are homeless or in care
    Children and young people who are life limited (requiring palliative care)

Medtronic funding to promote health at community level

  • Medtronic Funding for Medtronic is partnering with The Community Foundation for Ireland and The Ireland Funds to coordinate a national health initiative supported by its €1 million, aiming to promote health at the community level, especially for those who have been traditionally at risk for chronic diseases or are challenged in accessing existing healthcare services. The funding, which will be awarded over a three-year period, will be made available to Irish organisations with innovative ideas on how to remove barriers to healthcare in underserved Irish communities.

The Environment Fund for Local Environmental Initiatives

  • Minister Kelly announces allocations from The Environment Fund for Local Environmental Initiatives.

    Eligible projects are those that will support and complement, at a local level, national environmental policies such as those on Waste, Biodiversity, Climate Change, Air, Water and Sustainable Development.  A wide variety of projects and schemes have been supported under the Fund in previous years including, community gardens, allotments and compost schemes, rainwater harvesting schemes, educational initiatives and environmental exhibitions.

    The Fund promotes sustainable development by assisting small-scale, non-profit environmental projects at local level. For more information please see here.

Dormant Accounts Fund to support disadvantaged groups and local communities

  • Five million euros from the Dormant Accounts Fund, has been made available to provide a range of supports for disadvantaged groups and local communities. The Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government (DECLG) together with the Department of Social Protection (DSP) and the Department of Health (DOH) will sponsor the new round of funding, which includes capital grants for social enterprises. Applications are open to eligible community and voluntary sector organisations, local development companies and statutory and other public agencies since 1st July. The eight new measures will be administered and managed by Pobal. Full details are available on the  Pobal website

GSK Ireland IMPACT Awards

  • GSK has announced the launch of its inaugural GSK Ireland IMPACT Awards, designed to recognise and reward community-based charities nationwide doing excellent work to improve people’s health and wellbeing.

    Organisations interested in applying must:

    • Be registered and located in the Republic of Ireland and be in existence for at least three years
    • Have a total annual income of between €20,000 and €1 million
    • Target community health needs in Ireland, with community defined as a geographical community or a community of interest
    • Able to point to a track record of achievement in community health issues

Dublin Bus Community Spirit Awards

  • Dublin Bus is awarding grants to voluntary and community groups across the Greater Dublin Area. The programme was initiated to recognise and support the invaluable work undertaken each day by local groups located within the Dublin Bus network. The closing date for applications is 5:00pm, Friday 29th May 2015. HSE National Lottery Grants

  • The HSE has been allocated National Lottery Funding for distribution to community based groups and voluntary organisations under the following terms:

    1. Respite Care Grant Scheme
    2. National Lottery Grant Scheme

    Applications are invited from groups and organisations involved in the provision of Health and Personal Social Services for once off funding for viable projects (non major capital projects) which can be completed within a reasonable period of time.
