One of our core aims is to ensure that food poverty is a priority issue on the political agenda in both jurisdictions and that policies dealing with issues of food poverty are co-ordinated across all relevant Governments’ departments.

Food poverty is linked to a number of critical public policy issues including:

• health
• social welfare
• education
• food production and distribution
• retail planning
• food safety.

We aim to highlight the issues with government departments by making relevant pre-budget submissions, hold policy consultations and to lobby the Governments to ensure that all policies do not adversely impact on the ability of an individual to obtain an affordable and nutritious diet. Part of this work involves highlighting the connection between local action and Government policy through our work with the community and schools.
